THE DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

 
 

The Development Centre has the following centres and targets mainly the unemployed youth out of school and women in the community.

  1. The advice centre
  2. The skills development centre
  3. The Social support centre
  4. The entrepreneurial development centre
 
     
  Advice Centre  
 

We provide information and referrals to community members who come to us for advice and assistance with ID application. We help identify persons to be included in skills development and entrepreneur programs. We provide information and referrals to members within the community. We have developed a database on prospective job seekers and we assist in drawing up CVs for them. We conduct workshops for employment seekers on job preparation.We have over 50 youth and women getting assistance from the centre on a monthly basis.

 
     
  Skills Development Centre  
 

We are facilitating training to the community in income generating programs to address poverty and unemployment. We are currently facilitating training in computer literacy, sewing and knitting, catering and baking and gardening. The response from the community has been overwhelming and we have a waiting list from members of the community who need training from us.
In the year 2008 we trained 20 Students in Basic Computer Literacy, 6 in knitting and 6 in sewing between July and November.

 
     
  Social Support Centre  
 

We provide nutritious food parcels and conduct awareness events for the community. People who are very frequent our centre. Some of them cannot even affords to feed their families due to lack of employment  and some of them are very sick and cannot even work. We offer food parcels and coordinate with SASSA on poverty relief programs.

 
     
  Entrepreneurial Development Centre  
 

We provide assistance in job opportunities for work seekers. We assist them in drawing memorandums of  agreement, drawing of market and business plans, assisting in establishment of financial systems and assisting to develop SMMEs.
